| News : E-PL1 is out! |
Well, it looks like E-PL1 is out. USD 600 for the 14-42mm kit. The camera looks very traditional design, one could easily confuse it with typical fixed lens, low-end point-and-shoot digital camera. Both control wheels are gone, I assume it has similar controls as the typical digital compact camera. I'm sure Panasonic will have their own version soon. This camera will surely put the pressure on 'super-compacts' like Canon G11, and even entry-level DSLR cameras.
* It looks like the engadget article got pulled... But the cat is out of the bag.

| News : E-Pxx coming soon |
According to our friends over at 43rumours.com, it seems that Olympus is going to relase a cheaper Micro Four Thirds camera soon. The camera (according to 43rumours sources) has the same sensor as current E-P1 and E-P2, but has plastic body. Olympus has been running a teaser on their website for a while now.

| News : Olympus E-P2 released (and upcoming lenses) |
Well, the rumors on the Net were true, the E-P2 is here, and already "available" for pre-order on Amazon.com. The difference between the E-P1 and E-P2 are minimal, in my humble opinion, the E-P2 should have been called E-P1n or something, as far as I can tell the difference are:
- Accessory port for electronic viewfinder or microphone
- New tracking AF mode
- New art filters
- Black body
That's about it. Price on Amazon.com: $1099.99 for the 14-42mm kit$1099.99 for the 17mm kitWhat I find much more interesting are upcoming lenses from Olympus: - Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6
- Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6
Not the brightest lenses out there but combined with the Panasonic 17mm f1.7 would make the perfect travel kit. And 43rumours have the Micro Four Thirds lens roadmap! Olympus fisheye, macro and long telephoto (70-300mm?) are coming. |

| Articles : The Panasonic GF1 is here! |
Well, the rumors were correct, as we suspected. Inevitably, the GF1 will be compared with the Olympus E-P1, but as the leaked specifications did tell us, the key differences are: Panasonic GF1:
- Faster autofocus and tracking
- Higher resolution screen
- Built in flash
- Optional electronic viewfinder
- AVCHD video
Olympus E-P1 - Supports autofocus on all Four Thirds lenses
- In-Body IS
- Stereo sound in video recording
But that is not all, Panasonic has published Micro Four Thirds lens roadmap for 2009-2010, among the lenses they are planning are:- 7-14mm F4
- 45mm F2.8 OIS Macro
- 20mm F1.7
- 14-140mm F4-5.8 OIS HD
- 100-300mm F4-5.6 OIS
- 8mm F3.5 Fisheye
- 14mm F2.8
Along with Olympus 17mm F2.8 and rumoured Olympus wide zoom, I think the Micro Four Thirds is very promising. Some previews from the web: DC Resource Lets Go Digital DP Review

| News : Panasonic GF1? |
It seems that Panasonic is coming out with their own compact Micro Four Thirds camera. (We all knew that anyway). Again, xitek.com forums have the photos. It seems to have two things over the E-P1: Flash and AVCHD video. And it looks smaller too.

| News : E-P1 is out - (P)reviews around the web |
Well, the E-P1 is officially out, and some lucky reviewers have gotten their paws on the camera for evaluation. DPReview Quote: ...for years now we've been imploring every manufacturer who would listen to us to build a non-reflex interchangeable lens camera around a large sensor, and the E-P1's styling (and all metal construction) harks back to the glory days of the mechanical camera in the 60's and 70's, when men were men and cameras were built like swiss watches FourThirdsPhotoQuote: In summary this camera will not replace a top end SLR, its goal is to be a step up camera for point and shoot users, as well as a camera that serious photographers carry with them. It is designed to be priced affordably, as well as carry the top quality images that the most critical desire. With these requirements above no other camera can from my experience compete. Lets Go DigitalQuote: The advantage of the Micro Four Thirds system is that it makes it possible to change the traditional DSLR camera design drastically. A number of key elements have remained the same, but Olympus has seized the opportunity to design a compact housing with both hands. The retro design seems an almost impossible to justify choice. Personally, I am in favor of it and I find this design a truly wonderful addition to the current camera market. DC RecourceQuote: Fifty years ago, Olympus came up with the Pen-series of half-frame film cameras. These cameras were well known for their design, compact size, and photo quality, and ended up selling over 17 million units. The most significant of these models was the PenF, released in 1963. The PenF was the world's first and only interchangeable lens half-frame camera, with twenty F. Zuiko lenses to choose from. In case you're wondering why they were called "Pen", Olympus says it was because "it was small enough to carry with you at all times, with the ability to easily record the events of daily life". Sounds good to me. Quesabesde (spanich, and dubbed english)And, just for the fun of it: Will it blend? |

| News : Olympus Micro Four Thirds photo leak |
Well, it seems like 43rumours have gotten a leaked photos of the Olympus Micro Four Thirds camera. The original photos are from Chinese camera forums. The camera is definitely compact, with a nod to Pen F and Contax G2 designs. Should I replace my bulky E-3 for this little thing? I'm really tempted.l My personal style of photography has changed, my E-3 is left more and more behind.

| News : Olympus E-450 |
Olympus announced today the E-450, an updated version of the tiny E-4XX line. The difference between the E-450 and E-420 are minute:
- Three Art Filters (Pop Art, Soft Focus and Pin Hole)
- Improved screen (The luminance has been improved)
- Increased continuous shooting buffer (8 RAW files, rather than E-420's 6)
- TruePic III+ processor
No IS, though. Olympus is clearly keeping the E-4xx line "As simple as possible, but not simpler". |
